“Imperfect Living”
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Our faults and failings
To Err is human, and to be irritated by the “errs” of others is also human. Humanity, we are a faulty bunch. We are certainly in need of God’s grace, but in reality often feel our imperfections block us from it. How might we better access that Grace which is sufficient for us and better live amidst our imperfections?

“To Err is Human...” Colossians 3:13
The saying “No man is an island” captures a foundational truth about us humans; we are designed to be relational and are better together. The challenge is that everyone around us is so faulty. The old saying goes “to err is human, to forgive divine” but that shouldn’t excuse us because of in our humanness to stop seeking forgiveness nor to be- coming forgiving. Disappointments lead to division, hurt leads to anger resentment. The key to living with humans is in creating a community of forgiveness, where we who are forgiven begin to forgive perpetuating God’s plan into the midst of the broken world around us.
Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

“Love, the final word”
Romans 13:8
The saying “No man is an island” captures a foundational truth about us humans; we are designed to be relational and are better together. All around us the world seems to be coming apart: division here or hurt there; retaliation here and hatred there. We may try to escape the cycle through apathy, but it offers no relief. There is only one answer and it is found in the way we “love one another” (easier said than done).

1, Each of us is intended to grow and the body of Christ plays a part.

Many detours and distractions get in the way of our dis- covering the power of this community and the blessing of finding our place in it. These next weeks we’ll explore how serving, growing, caring and sharing together reveal what God has designed us for.

“Never Forget” I Corinthians 11:23-26
We are a forgetful people, or at least we seem to have selective memory. Much of what we easily remember tends to become burdens for us, and what we often fail to keep in mind could be the path to peace. Our spiritual lives are not intended to become meaningless, rote expressions of habit, but life giving reminders of God’s goodness and His plans for us.

“Going for Gold” Colossians 3:12-17
No athlete gets to the Olympic games by chance. It is that rare combination of God given talent and a nearly super-human commitment to be the best they can be for the event they pursue. What about the rest of us “non-Olympians”? Can we follow a similar pattern of running with the gifts God has given us with a more single minded purpose which will elevate and fulfill this life we’ve been given?
“Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17

Back in Time #4 “Am I?” Genesis 4
“In the Beginning...”; the opening words of the Bible which set the tone and establish the foundation for what is to come as God’s story opens. Amidst all the grandeur and intimate care revealed in the first chapters, Chapter 4 begins to draw a connection between our relationship with God and the way we relate to others. Human interactions have always been tricky. The ancient story of Cain and Able still is relevant today because we still ask the question “what does their problem have to do with me?”

The drama of Adam and Eve’s “fall” gives context for our struggles, and offers a reminder of God’s grace displayed in the midst of brokenness.
