“American Idol” Real Reality series, #5
Exodus 20:4
Today we continue the series “Real Reality”. Each week we’ll explore our human condition through the lens of popular reality TV shows and the hope we have through the lens of God’s word. American Idol is a long running singing competition show. Contestants match their vocal performance skill against one another until only one “American Idol” remains to be celebrated. The Biblical notion of an idol refers to an image or representation used as an object of worship. For the show, the term represents a person or thing greatly admired or revered. Most anything can become an idol, if it takes first place in the hearts of God’s people.
