“Whatch gonna do?” Matthew 27:32-33
As we continue to draw closer to the celebration of Easter, we watch as Jesus draws closer to the cross. Today Jesus walks the “Via Dolorosa” (“the way of Suffering”) from Pilate’s court to the hill of the crucifixion. Along the way we are introduced to Simon, an accidental participant in the Jesus story. Carrying the cross was not what he set out to do that day, but it was the unlikely twist presented to him.

The Road to the Cross (part 1) “Good Intentions, Grace Revealed” Mark 14:43-47
As we move toward the celebration of Easter, the next few weeks will focus on the events leading up to the cross. Today we begin with the arrest of Jesus in the garden and his response to a world becoming ever more violent. It is always good to honestly check one’s motives. Today we’ll ask what motivated Judas? What motivated Peter’s response? And what is behind Jesus’ move to heal?

“Always and Everywhere” Acts 1:1-8
We are invited to a life of purpose, but it is easy to lose focus along the way. The world around us doesn’t help; it offers busy-ness that does not fulfill, it fills space but not meaning. Jesus offers us more.

Is that even humanly possible? Can we be feed from the toxic spiritual effects that hate grows in our souls? Can forgiveness lead to enabling love to change our lives? This is the amazing power of love.

The Power of Love 1st Corinthians 13
They say “love makes the world go around” and it’s true, though not for the reasons we most often think. It’s true because “God is love” (1 John 4:8) and not only does He make all things go but He also meets our deepest needs. Jesus was asked what is the most important thing (the greatest commandment) that we can do? He said “love,” but what does it mean to love God with all your heart?

They say “love makes the world go around” and it’s true, though not for the reasons we most often think. It’s true because “God is love” (1 John 4:8) and not only does He make all things go but He also meets our deepest needs. The Bible’s “love chapter” offers us a definition of what love is (and what it is not), but even more it invites us to live in the awareness that we are loved. It is this love that makes our world go around!
