“Life in Conflict” (part 1) What’s that Sound?
1 Peter 5:8-9
Life is complicated, yet we are reminded “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31) There is good news here, but also a troubling answer. In the weeks ahead we’ll explore spiritual battlefield we call home. Amidst the noise and dis- tractions of this world, we may hear the clatter of conflict, or the sound of an adversary roaring, yet we either fail to recognize it or fall into fear before it. Neither response is the path to victory that the Bible lays out for us.

Meet the Wendel’s
The Wendel family are church-planting missionaries to the Czech Republic. Steve and Cari and their 6 kids: Erica (15), Claire (14), Elisha (13), Gavin (11), Adelaide (9), Jonas (8) have been serving with ABWE International since 2006. The Czech Republic is the most irreligious nation in the world today, and is among the least Christian as well. Nevertheless, God continues to call out a people to Himself in this spiritually impoverished land. Steve and Cari serve in their church plant through English classes, camps, outreach events, pastoral coaching, children’s ministry, and anything else that needs to be done for the gospel to be pro- claimed clearly in their community. They also serve at the Christian International School of Prague and Steve ministers as Team Leader for ABWE in Czech Republic, serving their teammates in their various roles and ministries. New Life Community Church has been a supporting partner of the Wendel’s ministry in the Czech for the past 5 years.

Today we conclude the series on counterfeit- scriptures; sayings many assume are from the Bible but in Fact are not. Some may be reminiscent of biblical truth, some may obscure biblical truth and some teach thoughts actually opposed to the teachings of the Bible. But how can we be sure? We need to be more aware of what the Bible says in order to spot such counterfeits.

The easy answer is to simply do what the Bible says, but even this desire is often confused by sayings that are purported to be biblical when in fact they are not. Today we continue with the second look at a few of the counterfeits to better under- stand the truths that the Bible holds for us.

Meet the Juanes Alise and Mark Juanes will serve at the House of Love and House of Blessing in Chiang Mai, Thailand, along with their three children (Sydney-10, Gavin- 7, and Kolin-5). These ministries serve tribal women and children coping with problems caused by AIDS, disabilities and migration from their rural villages to urban slums.
