For the last 20 years, the TV show “Survivor” has been a phenomenon. The reality show audience has been captured by the question “Who will survive to the end?” Yet, isn’t that our question as well? With the ups and downs we can expect to endure in life, we wonder “can we survive?” This Summer series will explore some Biblical truths we can apply to help us survive (and even overcome) some common threats such as worries and wounds, busyness and discouragement that many of us face. Today, we lay out the plan and getting started on the path of Surviving.

Birthed out of the anguish of a nation marred by violence and grief, it was an invitation to remember and to move on toward a better future. Today we’ll ask “what to do with the grief of loss?” And “how can we honor the sacrifice of others with our lives today?”

We were created to have a connection with God but honestly, prayer doesn’t come as naturally as one might think. In the weeks ahead we’ll look at the answer (a prayer) that Jesus gave them, what we call the Lord’s Prayer.
Praying won’t make us perfect, but praying in this manner can help us both heal and grow from our failures and God’s forgiveness.

Jesus says, “My sheep know my voice, I know them, and they follow me.” But with so many voices competing for our attention, it is sometimes too easy to be led down a wrong path. Thankfully, we have a Shepherd who hears our bleating cries when we find ourselves in trouble or separated from the flock. Today, look over the promises of Jesus...the VOICE of the shepherd we follow; and review the things He says bring us closer to Him where we can feel and see his presence with us, and be comforted.
