“A Time to Rebuild” Nehemiah 2:11-20 “A path out of the ruins”

The story of Nehemiah is the story of God’s people returning from exile in distant lands to rebuild Jerusalem and all that had seemed lost. Through it we’ll discover that God’s desire is to restore the broken and repair our lives for his Glory. The story continues today in chapter 2 as Nehemiah assesses the mess to find the path forward.

We constantly must be addressing the questions of "what are we here for?" and "how can we best meet this challenge?" as we seek to become the church God calls us to be.

Over the course of the Survivor Series, we’ve explored the keys to surviving many of the common obstacles we face today. Week to week we’ve looked at each verse of the 23rd Psalm and found the ancient text offers very contemporary help.  Today we recap and wrap up the series with a look at the final verse and see the fruit of trusting the “Good Shepherd” through the trials we face. For the last 20 years, the TV show “Survivor” has been a phenomenon. The reality show audience has been captured by the question “Who will survive to the end?” Yet, isn’t that our question as well? With the ups and downs we can expect to endure in life, we wonder “can we survive?” Relationships are the greatest source of blessing and joy but they can also be great stress producers. Hurts from others are inevitable, so how can we handle them in healthy way?

Survivor-More than Conquerors (part 5) “Surviving Dark Valleys” Psalm 23:4

For the last 20 years, the TV show "Survivors" has been a phenomenon.  The reality show audience has been captured by the question "Who will survive to the end?"  Yet, isn't that our question as well?  With the ups and downs we can expect to endure in life, we wonder "can we survive?"  It's at those dark and difficult moment that turn our world upside down that we struggle the most.  Discouraged, fearful and feeling isolated we can become stuck.  Psalm 23 reveals a plan for surviving our "dark valleys."

With the ups and downs we can expect to endure in life, we wonder “can we survive?” Sometimes we get stuck in the “downs,” mired in pain that we can’t seem to overcome. Today’s lesson guides us with our Shepherd toward restoration.
