Teach us to Pray (part 1 or 5) “First things First” Luke 11:1-4 & Matthew 6:9-13

The Bible records just one occasion when Jesus was asked by His disciples to teach them something and that one thing was “how to pray”. We were created to have a connection with God but honestly, prayer doesn’t come as naturally as one might think. In the weeks ahead we’ll look at the answer (a prayer) that Jesus gave them, what we call the Lord’s Prayer. Jesus gave us this prayer not so we would learn to recite it religiously, but as a pattern for praying than can guide us to a closer connection to the Father. Today we look at the way to get started and learn how to pray more effectively.
